| Here are
the construction notes for the Wittman Tiger One. |

The basis for this
kit is the Tamiya late model Tiger 1. It was
professionally built by our "builder",
Preston straight from the box with a few exceptions.
Zimmerit was added with putty, textured with
a razor saw and the rear engine grill grates
were formed from aluminum mesh.
The model is now ready for the paiting process.
The model was painted using the "color
modulation" technique pioneered by European
modelers who studied the techniques of the masters
such as Rembrandt. The basis for the "color
modulation" technique is dark at the bottom
and light on top. More on that later.
A "base coat" of black was applied...scary
putting black on your nice fnished model..but
fear not!
And now three tones of dark yellow are applied
along with the camo pattern..and the vehicle
is ready for detailing and weathering.
Weathering was accomplished with oil washes,
mig pigments and various shaded powders. The
3-d mud effects are glazing putty, paint and
baking soda. The branches are roots with model
railroad folaige, spayed with cement and sprinkled
with kitchen spices. The figures are conversions
from Tamiya,Dragona and Verlinden painted with
acrylics and oils. The crow's foot antenna was
made from wire superglued together. |
